A local author recently collaborated with a Connecticut Catholic Priest to author a book that seeks to change the reaction to terminal and chronic illness diagnoses. “After the Diagnosis…A Guide for Living: The Transformative Power of Love During Sickness, Dying and Death,” details the insight Father Tom Lynch gained after working with the dying and the extremely sick for over 20 years.

Barbara Mariconda, an author and resident of Saunderstown, joined Lynch, a reverend at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Stratford, Conn., in co-authoring the new work. Mariconda had been music director at St. James for two decades, and had seen first-hand the kind of work and guidance Lynch was providing to those seeking help after being diagnosed with a terminal or chronic disease. Together, the duo hosted hundreds of funerals at the church. ....
